Brand systems that make your business recognisable online

A brand system is a short set of rules for your colours, type and wording, so your business looks and sounds the same wherever customers find it. It's for businesses that already have a logo and colours but use them differently each time, and it makes the brand easier to recognise and easier to read.

Who it's for

  • Businesses with a logo and brand colours but no rules for using them.
  • Businesses whose brand colour is hard to read as text on a screen.
  • Businesses getting a new website that should match everything else they put out.

What's included

  • A colour split for screens, so your brand colour stays an accent instead of covering everything.
  • Contrast checks on every colour pairing, with a clear rule for where the brand colour can and can't carry text.
  • Fonts and sizes for headings, body text and labels that stay readable on a phone.
  • A few lines on how the business sounds: how to describe what you do, and which words to use and avoid.

How it works

  1. Gather what exists.

You send your logo, colours and a few things you've already made. I note what's consistent, what isn't and what's hard to read.

  2. Set the rules.

I turn that into a small set of colour, type and wording rules and test them on real screens.

  3. Use them straight away.

The rules go into your website or landing page first, so you see the system working, not just described.

Questions about Brand Systems

Do I need a brand system if I already have a logo?

Not always. If your logo and colours already look the same everywhere, you may not need one.

It helps when the same business looks different on its signs, its posts and its website, or when no one is sure which colours to use.

Why can't my brand colour be used for text?

Some colours are too light to read against white. LaGraphico's orange measures 2.5:1 against white, which fails accessibility contrast at every text size.

So on its website the orange fills buttons and badges, with dark text on top at 5.8:1. The brand stays visible and every word stays readable.

Can my brand look more professional without starting again?

That's what a brand system is for. Instead of replacing your logo, it sets how the one you have is used: the same colours in the same proportions, the same fonts and the same way of describing what you do.
